Wyatt Keith Warren Walker – that’s my son.  He’s 14 years old and about to enter a new phase in life – high school.  It’s kind of strange to think that my “little boy”, who is as tall as a lot of grown men, will be walking the hallways of a high school.  It seems like just yesterday I was walking him to his first day of kindergarten – my, how the time flies.

From day one of his life, Wyatt has been a bright spot to my spirit.  He was the perfect baby, didn’t cry unless he needed something and always had a smile on his face.  He’s always had a good nature, one that would help any soul in need.

I remember when I found out that I was pregnant with him at the tender age of 18.  I was way too young to be having any babies but, as you can tell from yesterday’s blog, I’m all about responsibility.  I knew what I had to do, and I did it.  I prepared as much as you can when you’re a kid yourself.  I had a wonderful family standing behind me that I knew would help me as much as they could.  Wyatt and I have a pretty unique relationship since we basically grew up together.  I am his Mom though, and he knows that.  Although he tries to move the line in the sand sometimes, he knows when to pump the brakes.

I remember dinners of fish sticks and mac and cheese or grilled cheese and tomato soup.  I remember that he HAD to have the dinosaur egg oatmeal.  So many things that I took for granted at the time I can recall and can’t help but smile.  His first soccer goal, making his first basket in a basketball game, all the things that come with being the mother of a son – I take pride in all of them.  When he succeeds, I succeed.

I’m proud to be his mom, he’s a great kid.  Now, off to high school we go…wish us luck!!

And if you have a minute…check out my “Wyatt Video
