I guess this would be more of a “rant” than a blog.  I was at my local health club this past week when I witnessed something horrifying.  A step class was going on and I saw 3 teenagers videoing a man who was partaking in the class.  The man was out of step, and I will admit, didn’t have a whole lot going on in the rhythm department.  None the less, the guy was trying, trying to get in shape, trying to be healthier, or may be his wife just conned him into going.  Who knows the reason for him being there, but, he was there.

When I saw this taking place, I almost immediately felt my blood boiling.  How dare these kids do that to this man, who was completely oblivious to what was happening?  They were laughing and giggling and really, I just wanted to go over and take care of it myself.  However, my son, who goes to the gym with me was also there and I wasn’t about to make future problems for him.  If these kids were so mean that they could do something like that to a GROWN MAN, what would they be willing to put my kid through?  By the time I was walking to the front desk to report it, I realized that someone else had beaten me there.  A little time goes by and as my son and I are leaving I hear the same boys in the lobby complaining about how they hate to “be accused of something they didn’t do”.  Again, my blood boiled.

Seriously, what has gone so wrong with our society that a group of punks would think that this is OK to do?  I would NEVER in a million years consider doing this to someone.

In my social networking life I have had friends that have entire albums dedicated to humiliating others.  They have taken random pictures of people, with no attempt to even conceal who they are and post them online.  Again, seriously?  What if you stumbled upon a picture of your mother, or your child that someone else had posted and was making fun of your loved one?  How would YOU feel?

Parents, talk to your kids about this.  Make sure they understand the impact they have on other human beings.  And to you adults that may do this…I just don’t know what to say other than, “seriously”?
